94 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$60 list] This classic, proven style of toasty but balanced Chardonnay will be perfect for a dinner party. It is dry, appetizing and just rich enough in texture to pair with grilled fish, roast chicken, even steak. Savoring on its own brings out a creamy, layered palate of poached pears and vanilla bean. Alcohol 14.5%. (Dec 2023)"

93 points James Suckling: "Sliced cooked apple with some apple puree and apple blossom as well as lemon rind on the nose. Medium-bodied with creamy texture. Flint and mineral flavors. Good acidity and energy. Hints of fresh straw underneath. Drink now. (6/11/23)"

92 points Jonathan Cristaldi (Decanter): "Fruit sources are from Carneros, St. Helena, and Napa Valley AVAs. The Jayson wines are soft and approachable at the pop of the cork and ready to drink. Native fermentation in 60% new French oak with some medium-plus toast and some second and third-use Pahlmeyer Chardonnay barrels. Aromatically, this is bright with yellow apples laced with vanilla, orange blossoms, and nuts. Medium-bodied with a hefty dose of creamy ripe fruit and a long finish. Drinking Window: 2024-2027. (11/8/23)"

90 points Joe Czerwinski (Wine Advocate): "Pahlmeyer's 2021 Jayson Chardonnay is nicely balanced, in a restrained, sedate format, with subtle nutty and creamy notes set against oak spice, white peaches and ripe pineapple. Primarily a selection of barrels that didn't make the cut for the top bottlings, it's medium to full-bodied, round and generous in the mouth; it's just lacking a bit of intensity and length. It's still an excellent wine. Drink: 2023-2027. (Dec 2023)"
