96 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "Perfumed and spicy, exuding sandalwood, tobacco, black cherry and black currant aromas. On the palate, the sweet spice notes wrap around a core of fruit detail, while the dusty tannins line the long, bracing, mineral-infused aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2045. 370 cases made, 85 cases imported. (4/30/19)"

95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Clear fresh mid purple. Quite a discreet nose but certainly classy. Smart use of oak, a little bit of spice and sandalwood. The sense of classy discretion continues on the palate, with the oak however remaining quite a forceful presence. Medium to long finish. (Sep 2021)"

95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with crisp blackberry, briary, crushed stone and light eucalyptus aromas that blossom with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, fleshy and harmonious with a touch of spice towards its very cohesive and sustained finish. Classy. Drink: 2026-2055. (Dec 2021)"

92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Clos Saint-Jacques is smooth in texture and medium-weight with dark fruit, but it was rather closed when I tasted it. (4/11/18)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The bottling of Clos St. Jacques is one of Maison Jadot’s iconic wines and the 2016 is another stellar example. The aromatic constellation is a mix of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, dark chocolate, grilled meats, mustard seed, cedar and a stunning base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, long and very refined out of the blocks, with a rock solid core, suave, ripe tannins and outstanding grip and length on the complex and beautifully balanced finish. A great Clos St. Jacques in the making. 2029-2075. (Mar/Apr 2018)"

94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Tasted from bottle, the 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques (Domaine Louis Jadot) is one of the most reticent wines in the Jadot portfolio this year, reluctantly unfurling in the glass with notes of red berries, rose petals, forest floor and cedary new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep, multidimensional core, rich structuring tannins and bright acids, concluding with a notably long and expansive finish. While there is considerable upside here for the patient, this will demand significant bottle age. While the 2015 rendition is more flamboyant, the 2016 may well rival it in ultimate quality. Drink: 2028-2050. (Apr 2019)"

94 points Stephen Brook (Decanter): "The nose is fabulous, packed with sumptuous cherry and raspberry fruit, exuding flamboyance, exuberance. Rich and plump, superbly concentrated and sustained by bold, ripe tannins. Ample zest and a peppery finish. Energetic and long. Drinking Window: 2021-2038. (Dec 2018)"

93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "There is a distinct coolness to the wonderfully pure and airy aromas of earth, rose petal, red currant and the sauvage that are set off by noticeable but not intrusive wood and menthol nuances. The rich, dense and sappy broad-shouldered yet refined flavors possess a suave and polished mouth feel, all wrapped in a stony and beautifully long finish. This excellent effort is markedly firm but very well-balanced and should age effortlessly for years. Drink: Try from 2031+. (Mar 2019)"

93 points Tim Atkin, MW (2018).
