98 points James Suckling: "An amazing 2008 rosé Champagne that has all the structure and aromatic complexity - sushi ginger, oolong tea and caramelized mandarin orange - we associate with this vintage, but also has more charm than most. On the palate, this has stunning concentration, yet is diamond bright. The interplay of creaminess, fine tannins and mineral acidity builds and builds at the breathtaking finish. The color comes from about 7% pinot noir red wine, partly from the little-known Les Riceys in the far south of Champagne. Drink or hold. (1/5/22)"

97 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Falstaff): "The nose opens with oystershell saltiness, creaminess and fruity notions of Red Delicious apple flesh that is perfumed with blood orange. The palate is more slender than the nose suggests and expresses its richness in depth rather than breadth. There is a compelling white pepper savouriness that pervades the wine and seems to highlight its statuesque nature, its vivid freshness, its absolute poise. More air reveals hints of candlewax and candied orange. An aromatic and elegant marvel. (8/8/21)"

96 points Simon Field, MW (Decanter): "Onion skin with coppery glints, welcoming a fine cordon of bubbles, small and persistent. The nose is deliciously serious, marrying red and white fruits, cherry and Mirabelle plums prominent among them, then, traversing the seasons, summer fruits and flowers. Only 9% of red wine has been added; judged to perfection as it lends structure without in any way forsaking an immediate appeal. The result is gastronomic and cerebral, yet also sunny and generous of disposition. Chef de cave Cyril Brun advises that this is a keeper, which will continue to challenge and seduce in equal measure over the next decade and more. Excellent. Disgorged Spring 2020. Dosage 7g/L. Drinking Window: 2021-2033. (Apr 2021)"

94-96 points Essi Avellan, MW: "Launched some two years after its white sibling, Charles Heidsieck Rosé Millésime 2008 greets you with instant Charles charm. The typical, heavenly ground coffee note is there but it remains coolly reserved with crunchy fruit profile that still holds back a lot. Peach, blood orange and lemon peel with a spicy twist. A rosé d’assemblage with 9% red wine, half from Les Riceys, half from Montagne de Reims, it is elegant, focused, even tight for the time being. The palate finishes very dry with the lowest-ever dosage for Charles, 7g/l, bringing a gastronomic, phenolic bite to the fore. In its breezy lightness and vivacious style it differs greatly from the previous releases but promises to be a slowly ageing keeper. Only a tiny volume was produced and regrettably no magnums, soo ne better move fast with this one. (May 2021)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "[$170 list] A rich Champagne, with a chiseled frame of acidity meeting fine, lacy texture to produce a harmonious effect on the palate. Shows a lovely range of roasted almond, dried cherry and raspberry, mandarin orange peel and accents of verbena, fleur de sel, brioche and espresso that play on the racy finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged 2020. Drink now through 2038. 59 cases imported. (12/15/22)" 95 points The World of Fine Wine: "Gentle pink sandstone color, a glint of copper caught in the sun, then distinguished aromas of mirabelle plum, spice and damask at dusk, whispers at the back of the bakery at dawn. The palate sketches a discreet figure of eight; we know that the acidity level is high; we know that the dosage takes us away from extra-brut rigor. What we also know is that we are in the presence of an imperiously harmonious wine, its pedigree writ large, the soft red fruit holding its own within a magisterial structure, like a distant flute in the palace gardens. (2021)"

94 points/'Vintage Rosé Champagne of the Year 2022,' Tom Hewson (TimAtkin.com): "63% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay. I have to freely admit that I wondered whether this wine would prove too austere when I first tasted it in 2021. Retasting in summer 2022, though, that austerity has morphed into an exciting tension that promises much for the future, the reductive tightness eased open a little. Still, it's no casual rosé this, super compressed and steely with red and orange citrus intensity, around which fragrant blackberry, allspice and dried apple notes tempt you in. It may end up in a sweet spot a little earlier than imagined; worth waiting five years for some exciting flavour development. (Dec 2022)"

Producer notes: "Elaborated with 63% Pinot Noir (including 9% of red wine) and 37% Chardonnay, this rosé from Charles Heidsieck is sourced from 11 grands and premiers crus. With a much lower dosage than in previous years (7g/L), it has a spicy and smoky nose with pomegranate, citrus, liquorice and red berry aromas. Harmonious and elegant, the palate is full-bodied with both tense and fresh texture interplays, with a vinous structure. A gastronomic rosé built for long ageing."
