93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pomerol excelled in the vintage, and 2018 Château Haut-Maillet is stunning stuff that's certainly the finest wine I've tasted from the estate. Based largely on Merlot with around 15% Cabernet Franc, its dense purple/plum color is followed by a classic Pomerol nose of ripe black cherries, plums, leafy herbs, tobacco, and damp earth. With medium to full-bodied richness, it has a stacked mid-palate beautifully polished, silky tannins, and a great finish. I don't think it's going to be the longest-lived Pomerol, but it should benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15 years. I'm a fan! Drink: 2023-2038. (3/11/21)"

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dominated by Merlot, this wine is still full of dense tannins. But the jammy black fruits and generous texture point to a more open future. Succulent and juicy, the wine will be ready from 2024. Alcohol 14.5%. (Apr 2021)"

91-92 points James Suckling: "Some earthiness, but bright and energetic fruit character behind the firm tannins and medium to full body. (4/11/19)"

91 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "A succulent, racy Pomerol, the 2018 Haut-Maillet offers tons of sheer appeal. Black cherry, plum, espresso, menthol and leather all come together nicely. This silky, mid-weight Pomerol has much to offer. It will drink well with minimal cellaring. Drink: 2023-2033. (Mar 2021)"
