After being finished in Caribbean rum casks, it takes on a rich toffee sweetness with notes of vanilla and hints of new leather. Casks are sampled routinely by the Malt Master, and hand selected.

The harvest gold color is eye-catching and immaculately pure. The opening aroma emits subtle, trademark Glenfiddich fragrances of cotton, fiber, paraffin, and yellow fruit; aeration heightens the fruit element and brings in a slightly honeyed component. The palate entry is pleasingly lean, grainy sweet, honey-like, and floral; the midpalate stage keys more on the honey sweetness and oak and dispenses with the graininess and flowers. Finishes well and with medium concentration on the oak influence. Another worthy stable-mate for the Special Reserve, Glenfiddich's ubiquitous cash cow."
