94 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "This has a sweetly aromatic nose, showing slightly glazed and crystalline fruits, mixed with smoke, tobacco and black pepper. A deliciously plump and satisfying palate, with that same glycerine sweetness to the fruit, wrapped up with clove and tobacco spices, in a supple, full and broad character. It is charming, savoury, peppery and confident, with a really firm grip from still tightly grained tannins within the wine. The finish is long, savoury and brimming with structure still. This is one to hold on to for a while I think. (Feb 2018)"

The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, initially a little disjointed and I would have liked more depth and concentration to come through on the linear, straight-laced finish.
