110 points: Luca Gardini: "Undoubtedly the most desirable cru of Verduno, in the westernmost area of the DOCG, soils composed of the renowned Marne di Sant'Agata fossils. The aroma has a great richness, red blueberry, then balsamic nuances and licorice. The mouthfeel is crisp and taut, with brackish tannins and incredible persistence. (May 2022)"

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is just stunning, starting with aromas of fragrant blue flower, red berry, camphor, dark spice and underbrush. Reflecting the aromas, the smooth, delicious palate delivers raspberry compote, ripe cherry, and licorice accompanied by polished tannins while fresh acidity offers youthful tension. Drink 2024–2038. Alcohol 14.5%. (Sep 2022)"

97 points Kerin O'Keefe: "The 2018 GB Burlotto Barolo MonviglieroBarolo Monvigliero from Comm. G.B. Burlotto is absolutely stunning, proving that even in a challenging vintage like 2018, co-owner and winemaker Fabio Alessandria can make sublime, age-worthy wines. It’s fragrant, with classic varietal aromas of fragrant blue flower, red berry, camphor, dark spice and underbrush while the smooth, delicious palate features raspberry compote, ripe cherry, and licorice accompanied by polished tannins. Fresh acidity offers youthful tension. Drink: 2024-2038. (10/18/22)"

96+ points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "Within the context of this set of new releases from Comm. G.B. Burlotto, this wine stands far apart. The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is linear and light, but it also shows good fruit weight. This is exactly the classic duality of Monvigliero (a village that traditionally incorporates whole clusters in fermentation). Spice, cola, licorice, grilled herb and dried cherry appear to lift over a fine and delicately tapered mouthfeel. Drink: 2024-2045. (Jun 2022)"

96 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is the most reticent of these 2018 Barolos, but it was also bottled nearly a year later. All the signatures are there, though, starting with the effusive bouquet that makes the Burlotto Monvigliero so alluring. Rose petal, spice, orange peel, kirsch and raspberry unfurl gradually in the glass. The 2018 is understated and mysterious today. I can't wait to see how it ages. Drink: 2028-2043. (Feb 2022)"

96 points Susan Hulme (The Wine Independent): "This 2018 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero has deep, heady aromas of crushed roses and spice. Sweet strawberry coulis, exotic spices, cinnamon and cedar come and go, punctuating the rose-covered red fruit. There are persistent, yet ever-changing aromas such as orange peel. There's a little more substance in the middle with crushed green notes sprinkled amid the red fruits with orange pith notes giving a note of light bitterness. It is enticingly seamless with a flowing texture and a weightless quality. A wine of great finesse with a lovely integration of tannins. Just beautiful - a wine of ease and calm. Wait one or two years before approaching, but it will drink up to 20 at least. Drink 2023-2042 (Jul 2022)."
