A distinctly earthy nose features mainly fresh red berry aromas laced with subtle spice and pepper nuances. The earthy character expressed by the nose can also be found on the delicious and solidly concentrated medium weight flavors that possess good verve that carries over to the firm and moderately rustic if nicely complex and lingering finale. This is a serious wine in the context of a category that is typically built on its fruit and one that merits at least a few years of keeping.
