93 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Candied licorice and black cherry fill the nose of the Vieilles Vignes, a powerful yet restrained wine, with a dense tannic structure, a little languid and with buried freshness. Slightly sticky, the finish becomes heavier. Aging should serve this wine well. (2022)"

92 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from older vines that average 75+ year old vines located in Aux Carougeot, Gueulpines, Aux Covées, Combe de Dessus, Jouise, Epointures, En Sylvie, Les Marchais, En Derée, En Songe, En Vosne and both the villages and 1er portions of Clos Prieur). A brooding and more deeply pitched nose features notes of quite ripe yet fresh dark berry fruit liqueur, spice, violet and a plentitude of sauvage elements. There is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the powerful large-scaled flavors that possess both excellent texture and superb length. This is a knockout and particularly so for a villages-level wine. Drink: 2031+. (Jan 2022)"

91 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry and light bilberry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine backbone with a structured saline finish with a sustained peppery aftertaste. Afford this five or six years in a cellar. Drink: 2027-2045. (Dec 2021)"

91 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Fine mid to deep purple, offering a delicious perfume of ripe raspberry fruit, with much more stuffing than the regular Gevrey, a better balance of fruit, acidity and tannin and impressive length. This will be really delicious, and we may not have to wait too long. (Nov 2021)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(Two parcels of vines of approximately 100-years-old). A much fresher and more mineral nose. In the mouth more direct, practically linear wine – fresh with fine intensity. A tannin, but no obvious grain. Not austere but most definitely a wine to keep – if you seek a little generosity, then take the Gevrey-Chambertin. (1/18/21)"
