99 points/'Le Coup de Coeur,' La Revue du Vin de France: "What can be said about the [Extra Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Les Crayeres Vieilles Vignes 2017], other than that it displays a rare complexity: oriental spices, citrus peel, saffron, dry hay... The palate, rich but never heavy, benefits from a full body and the elegance of a perfectly integrated autolysis, which prolongs the finish. (2026)"
98+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "A blend of the 2016 and 2015 vintages, the NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères is an especially good rendition of this almost routinely sublime bottling. Unwinding in the glass with notes of pear, wild berries, clear honey, white flowers, praline and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, beautifully layered and textural, with a taut, concentrated core, racy acids and a long, mineral finish. This chiseled, intensely flavored Champagne was disgorged this year with only one gram per liter dosage. Drink: 2025-2040. (12/14/23)"
97 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "A golden yellow color, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Blancs De Noirs Les Crayeres Vieilles Vignes Extra Brut is base 2018, with six years on the lees before disgorgement. Long and sustained on the palate, it captures the power of place, originating as it does from Les Crayeres with its very old Pinot Noir vines, and it has remarkable depth of fruit. It’s fleshy, ripe, and long, but it has freshness, and while it’s fantastic now, but it should have no problem improving over the coming 20 years. This is fabulous. Drink: 2025-2045. (12/15/25)"
97 points Sarah Mayo (The Wine Independent): "The only single vineyard cuvée produced by Egly Ouriet, the Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs NV comes from an old-vine plot in Les Crayeres with very deep chalky soils. 50% of this barrel fermented cuvée is from the 2016 vintage with the other 50% from 2015. Light rose gold in color, it explodes from the glass with wonderfully complex and expressive red berry, black cherry, wilted rose, yuzu confit, toasted brioche and honey aromas. Medium-bodied with abundant ripe citrus and red currant concentration, the super fine mousse is infused with racy, filigreed acidity that adds finesse to the exceptionally long and chalky finish with hints of lemon peel. Disgorged July 2023 and finished with two grams per liter dosage. Alcohol 12.5%. Drink: 2023-2040. (11/8/23)"
97 points Richard Juhlin (The Champagne Club) (Oct 2025).
96 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(tasted in 2023 in Australia; 50% 2015 and 50% 2014; 100% pinot noir, from a single lieu-dit, ‘Les Crayères’, planted in 1946 in shallow 30cm-deep soils in a warm, south-facing amphitheatre high up the Ambonnay slope; fermented and matured in barriques; partial malolactic according to the season; aged 6 years on lees; disgorged July 2022; 2g/L dosage). Francis Egly describes the grapes of Les Crayères as ‘very small and very aromatic’, producing a champagne ‘for gastronomy, with presence and structure’, quoting with pride that others have dubbed it ‘Burgundy with bubbles’. The depth and majesty of pinot noir are presented with a lighter than air grace and deep-set mineral presence. The mastery of Egly’s blending is exemplified in the harmony achieved between the richness and structure of 2015 and the tension and energy of 2014. The synergy presents outstanding freshness and energy that transcend the warmth of the 2015 season. Brilliant blanc de noirs. (Edition VII; 2024)"
96 points Tom Hewson (Decanter): " Initially reticent upon release, this cuvée's explosive, char-fuelled energy of fruits of the forest, dried apple and subtle roasted spices is delivered with a beautifully measured intensity, saturated with flavour before its drying, stony close. Highly expressive, yet still under considerable tension; for all its outgoing aromatics, there's a beguiling inner finesse here. Made from 100% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay, based on 2014 with reserves from 2013. Fermented in barrel, disgorged in September 2021. Drinking Window: 2024-2032. (1/7/24)"
96 points James Suckling: "Deep and complex, showing candied fruit, quince and lanolin with chalky minerality, strawberries and a bit of horseradish, slightly honeyed. Medium-bodied. Fine bubbles are tight, intense and long. Savory and tasty, pure and energetic. Drink or hold. (7/16/25)"
