97 points (18.5/20) La Revue du Vin de France: "Charmes-Chambertin smells of curry and turmeric. It develops notes of star anise. It's a waltz of spices. The palate is dense and compact, a veritable concentrate of black fruits. A muscular wine and much less silky than Mazoyères. It has a very nice length and a tight mid-palate. (2017)"

95 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(a blend of one-third Mazoyères and two-thirds Charmes proper - the fruit comes from a mix of mostly 20+ year-old vines and a small percentage of extremely old vines; 40% stems). A discreet application of wood doesn't detract from the intensely floral and notably elegant red berry fruit and earth-inflected aromas. There is really lovely richness and volume to the caressing medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the balanced, complex and wonderfully persistent finale. This too is absolutely lovely. Drink: 2023+. (Jan 2017)"

93+ points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Deep ruby-red Musky aromas of black cherry, violet, licorice and bitter chocolate Powerful, densely packed and penetrating, showing less early sweetness than the Lavaux-Saint-Jacques but coming across as remarkably thick and full for a 2014 A bit oaky in the early going but one can already appreciate this wine's grand cru depth Finishes with big, dusty, even tannins and terrific chewy persistence This wine boasts lovely balance but will nonetheless require extended aging. Drink: 2026-2039. (Mar 2017)"
