94 points Wine Spectator: "Graceful and fragrant, with delicately layered cherry and raspberry flavors laced with rose petal, dusky spices and a hint of fresh forest floor. Ends with refined tannins. Drink now through 2030. (6/30/23)"
94 points James Suckling: "Fragrant and open pinot with aromas of cherries, wild strawberries, orange zest, nutmeg and white pepper. It’s medium-bodied with silky, creamy tannins. Delicious balance of just-ripe berry fruit and subtle spice. Very long, too. Drink or hold. (3/13/23)"
93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2021 vintage of DDO’s pinot noir is a more structured wine than the sappier 2022 version, perfectly reflecting the classic styling of the 2021 vintage for Oregon pinots. The bouquet is deep, precise and complex, offering up scents of red and black cherries, a touch of dark berry, fresh thyme, woodsmoke, pigeon, dark soil tones, incipient notes of fresh nutmeg and a gentle framing of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused, tangy and beautifully balanced, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent mineral drive and grip, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, complex and very promising finish. The 2022 vintage of this bottling will be in danger of drinking early, given its suave and sappy youthful nature, but the 2021 is a more reticent vintage here and this wine will probably not offer generous drinking until the tannins have truly started to soften up a decade down the road. That said, it may well end up being the superior of these two excellent years at DDO, once those tannins have relaxed! 2035-2085. (Jan/Feb 2024)"
