93-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "100% whole bunch vinification. Dense purple with a ruby rim. The bouquet has an intensity of dark but fresh raspberry fruit, in a different register of intensity. As always with Rugiens-Bas, the fruit develops a depth not seen elsewhere in Pommard. Perfectly integrated tannins, enough acidity, a very complete wine with excellent length. (Oct 2024)"

95 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The 2023 Rugiens-Bas is a newly reinvigorated wine, with a marvellous concentration of mulberry and pomegranate fruit with hints of liquorice, pepper, lavender and earth. The texture is dense and structured but never astringent or hard. The grapes are from 1ha of vines next to those of the Hospices; two-thirds are more than fifty years old; a second parcel was replanted ten years ago. The grapes from the former parcel are fermented as whole clusters, and the balance is destemmed. This vintage is the second to include the younger vines. Drinking Window: 2027-2045. (10/30/24)"

95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This is rockstar Rugiens between its dialed-in tannins, plethora of delicious flavors and glowing freshness. Sweet plums, mulberries, turned earth, fallen autumn leaves and wispy fireplace smoke thrust from the glass. A satin thread of acidity effortlessly pulls it all together. This is 85% whole cluster and sees Taransaud oak. (2025)"

93-95 points Fine Wine Review: "Redder fruit than Pézerolles, good tannic structure, chewy texture, dense. More than 2/3 whole cluster. (3/3/25)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Pommard Les Rugiens-Bas 1er Cru (66% whole cluster) has a perfumed bouquet with more complexity than the Les Pezerolles, blossoming nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, taut and fresh with fine tannins. Crushed stone infuses the red fruit through a sustained and precise finish. Excellent. Drink: 2026-2045. (Jan 2025)"

91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.02 ha holding). Firm reduction dominates the nose today. More interesting are the equally sleek if bigger-bodied and more muscular if not necessarily denser, flavors that also flash an abundance of minerality on the overtly austere, compact and very much built-to-age finale. A buy and forget you own it wine. Drink: 2035+. (Apr 2025)"
