93 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Palish colour, complex, dry, an austere and uncompromising nose. Yet the palate combines a sweetness of primary fruit with dry, licking-the-chalk texture, and then a gorgeous open finish. Very beautiful. Tasted: May 2019."

91-93 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Pale, bright yellow. Piquant scents of lemon drop, white grapefruit and white peach. Tight and citrussy in the mouth and hiding its richness in the early going. But this rich yet energetic Vaillons boasts terrific purity of fruit and cut and a very long, rising, refined finish. This fruit was not frosted but the yield was still under 35 hectoliters per hectare, according to Dauvissat, who also told me that his degenerating old vines didn't produce a second generation of grapes in 2016. (Aug 2017)"

92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "In contrast to the youthful Séchet, the 2016 Vaillons is going to turn heads from the moment it is released. The bouquet is ripe, pure and complex, wafting from the glass in a blend of apple, pear, tangerine, spring flowers, a touch of beeswax and a lovely base of limestone soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully defined by its undertow of minerality, with bright acids, fine cut and grip and a long, complex and vibrant finish. Lovely juice. Drink: 2018-2040. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons hails from a parcel that's a mere 400 meters away from the domaine's holdings in Séchet, yet the wines are worlds apart. The Vaillons exhibits a muskier bouquet of orange blossom, peach and honeycomb, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and textural palate that's expansive and open-knit. It's more immediately charming, while the tighter-knit Séchet will need more time. Drink: 2019-2033. (Aug 2018)"

91 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from Beugnons and Châtains). Notes of white rose petal, oyster shell, lemon rind and apricot introduce cool, pure and equally refined middle weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the clean, bone dry and impressively persistent finale. This citrusy effort is lovely stuff that should drink well early but reward 6 to 10 years of cellaring too. Drink: 2024+. (Oct 2018)"
