91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.07 ha parcel of 35+ year old vines). This is as aromatically spicy as the Caillerets but it's every bit as elegant and a bit cooler as well with its more floral-inflected red berry fruit scents. There is better density to the even more mineral-driven flavors that are akin to rolling a small stone around the mouth while exhibiting the classic youthful austerity on the impressively long, focused and compact finale. As with all young examples of Taillepieds, this is definitely going to require at least some forbearance. Drink: 2031+. (Apr 2023)"

93 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "Supremely elegant nose, with a core of concentrated ripe fruit. Mineral and chalky to finish. A very fine Volnay which will age effortlessly for many years. Domaine d'Angerville's plot of Taillepieds totals 1.07ha, lying on weathered, thin and rocky soils to the south of the village of Volnay. Extra altitude adds to the precision and finesse. Drinking Window: 2025-2036. (3/18/23)"

91-93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds opens in the glass with aromas of plums, bonfire, sweet soil tones and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's one of the more structured, tensile wines in the range, exhibiting powdery tannins and a mineral finish. (Jan 2023)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru possesses one of the most alluring bouquet from the Domaine this year, a mélange of red and black fruit, cold granite, a touch of brine and a touch of undergrowth. Quite complex compared to other Premier Crus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, tart red cherry intermixed with blackcurrant and touches of thyme and bay, just tapering a little towards the finish. It will fill out by the time of bottling. Drink: 2025-2040. (Jan 2023)"

91-93 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Seven barrels were made from 1.05ha, a yield of about 15 hl/ha. Another fine even fresh purple. The nose is more restrained, some walnuts again. There is fine density on the palate, a certain lush quality unusual in 2021, with very good length Drink from 2028-2033. (Oct 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(A lot has been replanted). A little evident extra concentration – still not a wide nose but one with admirable clarity. Wide, with the classically mineral style of Taillepieds and a finish that just keeps broadening – and so persistent – another wine – perhaps all of them – I would be thinking of keeping for at least 5 years – but they are only just bottled, of course. Top. (8/18/23)"
