95-97 points Susan Hulme MW (The Wine Independent): "The 2018 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Ceretta was tasted as a barrel sample in May 2022, and was going to be bottled in the next month or so. Translucent medium-ruby with a slight garnet tone to the color, on the nose there is orange zest, orange pith and some very ripe red fruits and elegant spice notes. On the palate it is a combination of great concentration balanced by super-elegant and refined tannins which still manage to be very present and firm. The tannins are concentrated with a texture like compacted sand on the finish. The wine is so young and not revealing much today. Drink: 2024-2047. (Jul 2022)"

95-97 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "Tasted from barrel, the Giacomo Conterno 2018 Barolo Cerretta is shaping up to be a beauty. What stands out most at this very young stage is the quality and the elegant tightness of the tannins. Cerretta fruit from Serralunga d'Alba makes for powerful, structured and concentrated Nebbiolo that is delivered with naked clarity and outstanding purity. These qualities are clearly linked to the vineyard site and less to the conservative efforts executed at the winery. You taste the crunch or the nervous quality of the grape skins and pulp with dark and purple berry nuances and rusty or mineral overtones that hint at the more significant presence of clay in these soils. Drink: 2026-2055. (Nov 2021)"

95 points Aldo Fiordelli (Decanter): "Roberto Conterno ferments his wines in conical oak vessels and ages them in large Austrian Stockinger casks. His Cerretta is full of complex, heavier aromas of tar, aromatic herbs and leather, focusing in on graceful mint, chocolate and a camphor depth. Full and austere on the palate, it shows great concentration for 2018, with moderate acidity and thick, grainy yet ripe tannins. Remarkable savoury finish. Drinking Window: 2023-2040. (Jan 2022)"
