98 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Shows the consistency of this superb terroir over time – even in a modest vintage it has delivered riveting results. The bouquet opens with profuse, youthful aromas of plum and blackcurrant, with a smoky, mineral edge. There is relatively little development here, and the wine is rich and dense on the palate yet never loses the balancing freshness. Starting to open up and drink spectacularly well; it should last another 25 years at least. Drinking Window: 2025-2060. (8/3/23)"

97 points Fine Wine Review: "Finally, the monopole La Romanée is very fine in the nose and mouth with spices to go with the pure red fruits. Some black fruits also show in the mouth. The wine is crisp and there are also tannins here for aging. 2020-2050+. (Issue #126; 2009)"

96 points Bettane & Desseauve's Guide to the Wines of France: "An admirable floral nose with just a tiny hint of reduction that clears off after fifteen minutes of aeration. A pinnacle of tenderness and refinement in a vintage that generally gave hot, sensual wines. Drink: 2011 up to 2026. (2010)"

95 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "This is as reserved and cool as the Reignots but more complex, refined and sophisticated still as it just exudes class and breed with a fantastically broad array of spicy and pure black fruit aromas where the reserve and spice components are also reflected by the minerally, serious and delicious medium full-bodied flavors brimming with sève and extract on the very firm finish supported by buried tannins and huge length that doesn’t stop. This isn’t quite as concentrated and powerful as the ’05 version but it’s more than a respectable successor and there is so much sap that it gives the impression of being much more approachable now than it actually is. 2018+. (Jan 2009)"

95 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good deep red. Utterly captivating, subtle perfume of raspberry, rose petal, cocoa powder, licorice and spices. A treat to taste today but extremely young and powerfully structured, with terrific definition and lift to the slightly wild flavors of raspberry, orange zest, minerals and bitter chocolate. Finishes with a sappy whiplash of juicy persistence. (Mar/Apr 2009)"

95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2006 La Romanée Grand Cru is a vintage that I have encountered four or five times now. It is a year when Louis-Michel really showed what he could do even in a challenging growing season. Consistent with my previous notes, it has retained that sumptuous and sensual bouquet, the crushed violets now even more conspicuous. The palate is gentle and satin-textured with a pixelated and disarmingly pure finish. Wonderful. Tasted blind at Maison de Colombier in Beaune. Drink: 2021-2045. (Aug 2021)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Christmas cake, blood orange, mint, white pepper, dried flowers and tobacco are some of the many nuances that grace the 2006 La Romanée. Noble, understated and classy to the core, the 2006 can be enjoyed today, but it remains tightly wound, energetic and could certainly use another few years in bottle. A compelling interplay of exotic spices and bright, saline-inflected notes grace the finish. This is a superb wine for the vintage. Drink: 2018-2036. (Mar 2016)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2006 La Romanée is also a brilliant wine in the making, as it soars from the glass in a perfumed mélange of red and black raspberries, cocoa powder, great minerality, woodsmoke, Vosne spices, a stunning base of soil nuances and plenty of spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and tangy, with great intensity of flavor without undue weight, beautiful balance and focus, a sappy core of fruit, and great acids and ripe tannins perking up the utterly refined and seamless finish. A glorious and profound wine of perfumed discretion and haunting elegance. 2016-2045. (Mar/Apr 2008)"
