96 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "From Le Poyeux, the fruit here reflects a terroir of windblown sand over limestone, soils which Jacques Toublanc says confer elegance. The élevage is in barrels imported from Bordeaux, typically one- and two-years old, and the wine rests within for two years. This has an expressive nose loaded with perfumed dark cherry, olive and stone, giving it a pure and cool finesse. It feels fresh, bright and correct, and yet it comfortably steps up a gear on the palate which is tense and stylish, textural yet showing such great energy. Dark, fresh, with gravelly tannins and bright acidity, this has a beautiful energy and substance. An excellent style, and very long too. (Jun 2019)"
96 points La Revue du Vin de France: "The velvety grain and natural florality of the 2016 Poyeux is particularly noticeable this year. Pure, intense, with an admirable elegant length, it should take on the appearance of a Burgundian Pinot Noir in the next twenty years. Still restrained by its signature lard-smoked ageing. (2022)"
