93-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Showing rich, chocolate and dark coffee flavors, this wine is powerful and dense in texture, but balanced by luscious blackberry fruits. Its richness is considerable, lending ample concentration and potential for aging."

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Checking as a mix of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Clos Badon Thunevin from Thunevin sports a ruby/plum color as well as terrific aromatics of spiced red and black currants, spice, tobacco leaf, and chocolaty oak, which is beautifully integrated. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's concentrated and has ripe, polished tannins as well as a gorgeous finish. It's a beautiful, rich, yet elegant 2019 that's well worth seeking out and cellaring. It will keep for 15-20 years, if not longer. Drink: 2022-2042. (4/11/22)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2019 Clos Badon-Thunevin is bursting at the seams with blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, cloves, licorice and rose petal. This heady, flamboyant Saint-Émilion is not exactly subtle, but it sure is delicious. Soft, plush contours add to its considerable allure. This is another terrific wine from Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud. Drink: 2024-2039. (Feb 2022)"

93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of sweet berries, fresh currants and flowers, such as hibiscus. Full-bodied with lots of fruit and richness. Soft and slightly chewy tannins. Flavorful finish. Lots of ripe fruit, but well-framed by the tannins. Drink after 2023. (8/20/21)"

92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2019 Clos Badon Thunevin has turned out very nicely, offering up aromas of dark berries and cherries framed by a deft application of new oak. Full-bodied, broad and lavishly textural, it's velvety, fleshy and seamless, with an ample core of succulent fruit and ripe, melting tannins, concluding with a vanillin-inflected finish. Drink: 2021-2029. (Apr 2022)"

92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Clos Badon Thunevin has a pretty, generous nose of macerated black cherries and cassis mixed with violet, pretty similar to the aromatics I found from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied, harmonious and quite classic in style, with fine tannins and impressive structure and finesse on the finish. This is a superb Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from the 'Bad Boy.' Drink: 2024-2040. (Feb 2022)"

92 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent): "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Clos Badon Thunevin explodes with bombastic scents of prunes, fruitcake, and boysenberry preserves, leading to suggestions of licorice, tar, cedar, and chargrill. Full-bodied, big, concentrated and built like a brick house, it has firm, chewy tannins and loads of exotic spice layers, finishing very long. (5/9/22)"

91 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "A St Emilion from Jean-Luc Thunevin, the vines out on the plateau below Pavie. Dark and modestly perfumed on the nose, with black pepper and kirsch fruits, it comes dressed with tobacco and toast. The palate continues with a wealth of showy dark fruits, ripe blackberry, blackcurrant, tar and soot, dressed up with some fragranced violet and peony notes, set within a sweet texture and supported by lightly toasted oak. An accomplished style here, opulent, with dark fruits, ripe tannins, a fine grip and sooty structure. This has a very modern style but there is no denying it has some delicious characteristics, with tar and soot and toast. Note that the declared alcohol, on the label, is 15%, which fits with the style. (Dec 2021)"
