92-94 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "From the flatter land below the Côte de Pavie, a glimpse of the Thunevin style which is looking pretty smart in 2016. It has a nose of slightly baked black cherry and creamed plum, with touches of spiced black bean and black olive. The palate is cool and broad, quite plush in terms of texture, with considerable breadth and tannic energy though. An imposing style, loaded with structure, with darkly grained and roasted fruit, but with a fresh acid lift. There is plenty of warm, vanillin oak character wrapping this up at the moment as well. A very bold and primary style, but true to form and showing potential. (Apr 2017)"

92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Based on equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, from vines just across the road from Pavie (down on the lower plain), the 2016 Clos Badon has a pretty, perfumed, elegant style as well as a great nose of currants, camphor, dried soil, and spice box. Drink this beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, seamless Saint-Emilion any time over the coming 10-15 years. Drink: 2019-2034. (2/28/19)"

92 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Clos Badon-Thunevin is just as gorgeous from bottle as it was from barrel. Sumptuous, racy and inviting, the 2016 has so much to offer. As always, Clos Badon is a rich, heady Saint-Émilion. Super-ripe blackberry, chocolate, espresso and spice build into the creamy, super-expressive finish. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Drink: 2020-2031. (Jan 2019)"

92 points James Suckling: "This is ripe and very open with chewy and juicy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Full body. Savory. Drink after 2023. (2/3/19)"
