94+ points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "This is a relatively new addition to the Domenico Clerico portfolio (the first vintage was 2017) but a needed one given that the estate's most recognized wines like the Barolos Pajana and Ciabot Mentin (both from Ginestra) are recognized as their own brands outside an MGA identity. This wine, however, reminds us that Domenico Clerico's wine DNA is totally linked to Monforte d'Alba. The 2019 Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba takes a few minutes to open before it delivers that combination of dark berry fruit and rusty mineral that gives this part of the appellation strength and structure. Some 30,000 bottles are available at an interesting price point. Drink: 2025-2040. (8/24/23)"

94 points James Suckling: "A bright and primary red with sliced strawberries, citrus and stone aromas and flavors. Medium body. Fine tannins and a fresh finish. Tangy. Crushed stones. Juicy and nicely chewy. Transparent. Drink after 2026. (7/28/23)"

93 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Showing the firm character and tension that defines the vintage, the racy 2019 Domenico Clerico Comune di Monforte d’Alba is youthfully austere and still a bit closed at this primary stage, but the nose already reveals scents of hay, rose and purple flower. Linear and precise, the vibrant palate features spiced cranberry, blood orange and licorice firmly supported by tightly wound, close-grained tannins that still need several years to unwind. At this point in its evolution, it’s starting to close down but will reopen in a few years so give it time to fully develop. Drink: 2028–2049. (Jul 2023)"

93 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "A medium garnet, the 2019 Barolo Del Comune Di Monforte D'Alba is rounded with aromas of raspberry liqueur, candied licorice, and crushed roses. Ripe with fruit up front, the more driving structure of the vintage presents itself through the mid-palate and finish along the sides of the palate and leads to a mouthwatering finish. It offers generous cherry fruit, followed by bergamot, tea leaf, and cedar. It will do well with another 6 months to a year in bottle. Drink 2024-2040. (5/4/23)"

93 points Falstaff Guide: "Clear ruby ??garnet, delicate rim brightening. Fragrant, playful nose, raspberries and strawberries, some cloves and subtle herbal savoryness. Structured and precise on the palate, starts with lots of juice, builds drive, vibrant acidity, ripe tannin, savory finish. (10/6/23)"
