96-98 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Fine bright purple. A beautifully harmonious bouquet and absolutely no sign of the whole bunches here, unlike Cazetiers. Perfectly structured, I put this well ahead of its neighbour, Cazetiers, in 2020. I cannot see how this could be better, very fine long finish, but it is the harmony that speaks the most. (Nov 2021)"

95-97 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Gevrey Chambertin Clos St-Jacques 1er Cru has a delightful, complex and involving bouquet with perfumed blackberry and cranberry fruit intermingling with subtle sea spray and charcoal scents. The palate is very well balanced with gentle grip than belies the structure of this Clos St-Jacques, and it fans out with brio on the finish. Huge potential and bloomin’ delicious. Drink: 2025-2055. (Dec 2021)"

95 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "There is a combination of black plum and black cherry aromas, with a pleasant smoky edge from the cask that still does not obscure the mineral notes in this wine. On the palate the wine is slightly closed, tannic, firm, and not very approachable, but one can easily see that there is massive potential here and the substance to age for decades. The domaine owns one hectare of the Clos St-Jacques. After a fermentation with 30% whole clusters, the wine is aged in 40% new casks, and the domaine chooses a slightly more robust toast for this bottling. Drinking Window: 2025-2050. (5/23/21)"

92-95 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines). An exceptionally spicy and floral-inflected nose adds breadth in the form of both red and dark pinot fruit. The racy, detailed and mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors possess fine mid-palate density while the beautifully detailed and persistent if youthfully austere finish is supported by very firm but fine tannins. Patience strongly advised. Drink: 2035+. (Jan 2022)"
