The soil there is a deep, sandy loam that has a layer of limestone toward the end, where the roots reach down and impart that classic chalky texture to the wine. But there's much more here than chalk. The flavors are ripe and succulent and tempered by acidity that comes from the cool Andean breezes at an altitude that rises above 1,300 meters. This is an Andean red, with that type of herbal and floral aromas that are seductive on both the nose and palate, giving a delicious sensation of juiciness. This is a big and ample wine, although it's also very tense at the same time and needs at least five years in the bottle. (Jan 2022)"
