97 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent): "The 2017 Canon la Gaffeliere is deep garnet-colored. So perfumed on the nose with gorgeous notes of kirsch, black raspberries, and red roses, plus wafts of powdered cinnamon, underbrush, and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is fantastically graceful with fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness supporting the perfumed red and black fruit layers, finishing long and minerally. (12/29/22)"

97 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate): "Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Canon la Gaffeliere comes roaring out of the glass with exuberant notes of baked blackberries, blueberry compote and redcurrant jelly plus hints of forest floor, dried roses and cedar chest with a waft of fallen leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic density with a firm frame of finely grained tannins and tons of freshness, finishing with lingering layers of bright, energetic fruit. Drink: 2024-2054. (3/16/20)"

95+ points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Canon La Gaffelière is another highlight in this range from Stephan von Neipperg. Bright, floral and punchy, the 2017 impresses for its energy and drive. Dried rose petal, mint, sage, tobacco, cedar and licorice add pretty top notes to this highly nuanced, layered Saint-Émilion. The Cabernet Franc is so expressive here. Quite simply, the 2017 is a wine of pure and total finesse. Tasted two times. Drink: 2025-2042. (Mar 2020)"

95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "The admirable density of the 2017 is complemented on the nose by a floral quality evocative of fine Cabernet Franc. The fruit becomes radiant on the palate, with tannins that signal perfect maturity. Its freshness is not to be underestimated. (2021)"

94 points Wine Spectator: "Features a deliciously ripe and inviting core of plum, boysenberry and blackberry compote flavors, backed by anise and apple wood notes. Juicy in feel through the finish, with the fruit lingering. Tobacco and iron accents wait in reserve. Cellar for maximum effect. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2022 through 2038. (3/31/20)"

93 points James Suckling: "A linear, tight red with currant and fresh-herb aromas and flavors. Medium body. Fine tannins and a bright finish. Clean and lively. Drink in 2021 and onwards. (1/10/20)"
