94 points James Suckling: "Sophisticated aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries and flowers follow through to a full body with integrated, polished tannins that are fine, yet layered, delivering a relatively long finish. Drink in 2023 and onwards. (2/3//22)"

93 points Joaquín Hidalgo (Vinous): "[$30 list] The 2018 Malbec Benegas Single Vineyard hails from La Encerrada, a vineyard in Gualtallary, Uco Valley and was aged for 12 months in French barrels. Fierce purple in hue. The core of the nose consists of fresh violets and plum along with secondary notes of sour cherry, herb and cedar. Gentle and juicy in the mouth. The flow is nimble with good body and the intensity that comes with altitude. The ripe flavors are well-judged. A pure, flavorful terroir driven wine. Drink 2021-2033. (Nov, 2021)"

92 points Tim Atkin, MW: "Confirming the promise of the 2018 release, this Malbec provides further proof of recent progress at Benegas. It’s a structured, fresh, well-judged Gualtallary release, with assertive, but nicely integrated oak, textured tannins, some chalky freshness and lots of dark berry fruit. 2023-29. (2022)" Producer notes: "Intense ruby-red with violet reflections. Clean and bright. Strong presence of red fruits, with floral notes such as violets; typical of the cold regions of the Uco Valley. The thermal amplitude generated in these high altitude vineyards gives the wine a deep color and a great aromatic intensity. Wine of medium intensity, with soft and round tannins that develop through the mouth. Juicy and very pleasant on the palate with a subtle minerality. Elegant and long finish on the palate."
