91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "As I mentioned in my review of the 2017 version, Samuel Billaud’s villages bottling is sourced primarily from the excellent lieu à dit of les Pargues, with the wine fermented and raised solely in stainless steel. The 2018 example delivers a superb bouquet of green apple, lemon, dried flowers and very fine base of chalky minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and zesty, with a fine core of fruit, excellent mineral drive and grip and a long, vibrant and complex finish. This is a first class example of AC. 2020-2035. (Jul/Aug 2020)"

91 points Tim Atkin, MW.

90 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of citrus zest, pear, white flowers, crisp green apple and oyster shell introduce the 2018 Chablis Villages, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless wine that's elegantly textural and incisive, with racy acids and a layered core of fruit. This is a terrific example of the appellation and well worth seeking out. Drink: 2020-2035. (Jul 2020)"

90 points Jasper Morris, MW: "***** (5-star wine: An outstanding wine in its category. This accolade will be given very rarely, certainly to less than 10% of wines tasted across the year.) Samuel Billaud’s Chablis is blended from Les Pargues, Bas de Chapelots and 80 year old vines is Les Quarts, one third of each. Pale in colour, this is impressively chiselled on both nose and palate and has a fine feeling of concentration. It boasts a steely finish, enjoying a perfect fruit and acid balance. (May 2019)"

90 points Wine & Spirits: "[$30 list] For this wine, Billaud works with vines planted between 1952 and 1987, vinifying the fruit in stainless steel. It offers full-on richness of green pear and ripe apple, lasting on a sunny, gingery buzz in the focused limestone acidity. A contrast of luscious and firm, this will meld those two elements with a few years of bottle age. (Oct 2020)"
