97 points Luca Gardini: "From three parcels of Vigna Marrucheto, the product of a long-time territorial research in this case too. Red cherries to the nose, chinotto and licorice touches. The mouthfeel is juicy-sapid, crisp, of nice persistence, with citrusyfruity return. (Oct 2022)"

96 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "[$135 list] An intense red, with blackberry, black currant, wet hay, leather, earth and iron aromas and flavors piercing the athletic structure. Almost delicate, with a dense matrix of tannins for support. Features fine energy and length. Best from 2026 through 2047. 213 cases imported. (4/5/23)"

96 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Truffle, mocha, tobacco and ripe dark-skinned fruit aromas mix together along with balsamic whiffs of camphor on this impressive single-vineyard offering. Aged entirely in large French casks, it’s bold and delicious, doling out ripe black skinned fruit, cocoa and licorice framed in fine-grained, velvety tannins that envelope the finish. Drink: 2024–2038. (Nov 2022)"

95 points James Suckling: "Cranberries, crushed raspberries, bark, tobacco leaf, hazelnuts and lemons on the nose. Expressive, fresh and savory on the palate, with bright acidity and tight, firm tannins. I like the tangy energy at the end. Try in 2024. (12/11/22)"

94 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "Now in its proverbial third leaf (or the third vintage made), the Castello Banfi 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto is a wine of rich concentration and dark fruit nuances. The bouquet is tight and powerful with all kinds of black cherry and wild currant aromas. The balance is good and so is the intensity of the primary fruit. Only the strong 15% alcohol content is out of place. This is a solid Brunello that will appeal to those who love the richer and more saturated side of Sangiovese. There is some sour cherry on the close, and the tannins would benefit from a few more years in the bottle. Drink: 2025-2040. (Mar 2023)"

93 points Susan Hulme (The Wine Independent): "This 2018 Banfi Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto is a single vineyard wine whose first vintage was 2016. This wine is deep, dark ruby in color. On the nose there are aromas of dark berries, a little bramble, and a crunchy green fruit note, followed by some powerful aromas of smoke, cream, charred oak, green herb and balsamic notes. On the palate there is a chewy, austerity to the tannins which feel a little firmly extracted but on the positive side there’s a lovely, vivid acidity giving juiciness and there is a good amount of chunky, dark fruit. A robust and hearty style Brunello. Alcohol 15%. Drink: 2024-2035. (5/28/23)"
