**** John Livingstone-Learmonth (The Cradle of The Rhône): "(Chaillot, Le Pigeonnier, clay influence, 1999 Syrah, used 228-litre cask) ****(*) dark robe; the nose is restrained, carries style in the fruit, tender blackberry with salt, pistachio-nutshells. The palate has a fusion of iron right through it, good flanks of dark berries, along with upbeat, live tannins, good energy. It holds very well, is bright, rocky, powdery, a fine frame. It’s go-go, a touch floral, carries real appeal. 25 years 2) (Tézier, E facing, very decomposed granite, young Syrah, 12 hl barrel) **** dark red-black tinted colour; the nose is sweet-toned, cosy, rather voluptuous, an air of blackberry, reduction. There’s a spot of noble Volatile Acidity on the palate, which bears a flavour of soaked black berry fruits, good, bendy tannins within, quite ripe ones. The exterior is cool, and there are floral notes. 23 years Oct 2021."
2019 vintage rated 96 points by Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "Opaque violet color. Intense dark berry, potpourri and olive paste aromas are energized by building mineral and cracked pepper flourishes. Stains the palate with appealingly sweet black and blue fruit, cola, candied violet and spicecake flavors that show a suave blend of depth and energy. Finishes on an emphatic blue fruit note, showing sharp definition, well-knit tannins and resonating florality. Drink: 2026-2036."
