99 points/'Le Coup de Coeur,' La Revue du Vin de France: "Finally, the volcanic terroir of Rangen leaves its vigorous mark on all three wines, imparting earthy power to the Riesling, fiery energy to the Gewurztraminer, and culminating in the Pinot Gris: the intensity of flavors, precision, and dizzyingly deep texture of this salty, luminous wine will win everyone over. (2022)"

98 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "So spicy and smoky with a hint of mushroom, this is an enormously deep and concentrated dry pinot gris that’s just beginning to open up. With some aeration, ripe melon character is added to the expansive picture. Tons of spice at the imposing, dry finish and just a hint of raisin. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but better from 2023. (6/15/21)"

95+ points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "From 56-year-old vines and bottled in February 2021, the 2019 Clos Saint Urbain Rangen de Thann Pinot Gris opens with an excitingly deep, pure and elegant yet also intense and flinty bouquet of crushed stones and perfectly ripe and juicy stone fruits spiced with cold ash and just-ripe mango aromas. Elegant and vital on the palate, this full-bodied Pinot Gris from the steep Rangen is very intense yet also very mineral and thus never heavy not to mention mighty or powerful. This 2019 is built on elegance, finesse and the talents of the terroir, which gives an always vital, stimulating saline and intense finish. This is an extraordinary Pinot Gris with stimulating salts and minerals and lovely lush and ripe mango and passion fruit aromas. This is the finest Pinot Gris I have tasted from the Clos-St-Urbain so far. 13.9% alcohol with 6.2 grams per liter of residual sugar. Natural cork. Tasted in November 2024. Drink: 2029-2050. (2/6/25)"

95 points Wine & Spirits: "Concentrated and intense, this wine's pear-jam flavors turn toward elegant minerality in the finish. For now, the rich, opulent vinosity gets in the way of the wine’s precision, with the volume turned up high. John Szabo MS believed the intensity to be intentional—'its concentration is off the charts.' (May 2024)"
