96 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "The 2021 Pinot Noir Martaella Vineyard has a light smoky and flinty lift, with aromas of raspberry liqueur, fresh roses, and pine. Full-bodied, it offers highly refined tannins, a supple texture, and an expansive feel without being heavy. With blackberry, violets, and sweet herbs, followed by smoky incense on the finish, it’s a very attractive wine as it opens up and would do well to decant if opening now. Drink it over the next 15 or more years. (Jul 2023)"

95 points Erin Brooks (Wine Advocate): "Matured for 15 months in 60% new oak, the 2021 Pinot Noir Martaella Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and is wonderfully expressive this vintage! It floods the senses with rhubarb, pomegranate, blueberry, pipe tobacco, lilac and tea leaf aromas, offering something new with each return to the glass. The medium-bodied palate is silky and bright, unfurling floral nuance as it moves through the mouth, and it has a long, layered finish with spicy accents. 499 cases were made. Drink: 2025-2035. (Jun 2023)"

94 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and juicy, with inviting plum puree and mulberry pâte de fruit flavors streaming along, carried by nicely embedded acidity and backed by hibiscus and rose notes. Reveals a late sanguine twinge, which lends a little intrigue to the finish. Drink now through 2031. (Sep 2023)"

Producer notes: "The inaugural release of the Martaella Vineyard Pinot Noir showcases the best of the Santa Rosa Plain area of the Russian River Valley. The climate is tempered by some fog intrusion, but this region enjoys warm days to allow for perfect maturity. Perfumed with red and purple flowers, the fruit elements combine to showcase an explosively aromatic wine. Planted on clay loam soils with volcanic and sedimentary elements, the wine highlights a lush tannin profile with cool, aromatic fruit undertones. Juicy and refreshing on the palate, it finishes with a sensation of black tea. Harmonious and impeccably balanced, this is a site to watch out for. Alcohol 13.5%. Optimal Drinking Window: 2024-2031."
