97 points Clive Pursehouse (Decanter): "Delicious freshness abounds from the Walter Scott Freedom Hill Pinot Noir. This site, planted in 1981, sits in the foothills of the Coast Range in the Mt Pisgah appellation. Loads of purple florals, smoky blood orange, and pine sap set off an aromatic fireworks display from the glass. The palate retains a savoury intensity as smoky clove and wild mint tussle over sappy red berries and blood orange freshness. It's a gorgeous Pinot Noir that makes a strong case for the calibre of the appellation and this beautifully farmed site. Drinking Window: 2024-2042. (5/30/24)"

95 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "A reflective medium red color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard is open and pretty in the glass, with pristine notes of wild raspberries, pressed flowers, and rocky earth. Ken Pahlow’s favorite Freedom Hill since 2019, this cuvée is typically more black-fruited, but I really like this pretty vintage. Medium-bodied and well-structured, with ripe, defined tannins, refreshing acidity, and a slightly broader shouldered feel, it’s a fantastic vintage for this wine. Drink 2025-2040. 300 cases were produced. Drink 2025-2040 (Aug 2024)"

94 points & 'Highly Recommended' International Wine Report: "The 2022 Walter Scott Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir is another stunning example of the winery's craftsmanship. Pouring a radiant medium ruby-purple with a neon pink rim, this wine immediately captures the eye. Aged for 15 months in 15% new French oak barrels, it bursts with bright, opulent aromas of black cherries, blue plums, mountain sage, and tangerine zest, underpinned by subtle hints of damp earth. On the palate, it dazzles with fine-grained tannins and lively acidity, culminating in a spicy, zesty finish that lingers beautifully. About 300 cases produced. Highly recommended. Drink 2024-2039 (Aug 2024)"

93+ points Erin Brooks (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Freedom Hill Pinot Noir comes from vines planted in 2001 in marine sedimentary soils. It was fermented with 5% whole clusters and matured for 15 months in 15% new barrels. It opens with dark rhubarb and cranberry tones and gives way to notes of flint, pipe tobacco, rooibos tea leaves and orange bitters. The palate is seamless yet powerful. Silky and fresh, its concentrated fruit floods the mouth, and spicy accents linger on the extended finish. It's a touch more youthfully coiled than the other 2022 Pinot Noirs from Walter Scott and will benefit from 3–5 years in the bottle. 300 cases were made. Drink 2025-2040 (Jul 2024)"

93 points Eric Guido (Vinous): "The 2022 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard lifts from the glass with a remarkably pretty blend of dusty rose, dried strawberries and crushed stones. This is racy in feel with a solid core of zesty red fruits and tactile mineral tones, all motivated by vibrant acidity. It finishes with violet inner florals, leaving a staining of primary concentration beneath an air of lavender and sweet spice. Drink 2025-2034 (Aug 2024)"

Producer notes: "Freedom Hill Pinot noir captivates the sense with its signature intensity, unraveling a tapestry of flavors reminiscent of brambly Marion berries, grilled black cherries, and the enticing allure of violets. It boldly unravels its flavors with an interplay of fruit alongside black tea and licorice. Delighting the palate, it reveals a captivating density, woven with nuances of sweet tobacco and mineral-rich gravel while embracing velvety tannins. With our intention to balance its inherent strength with its finesse, this expression celebrates the unique potential of Freedom Hill. Only 300 cases produced."
