There is a superbly managed generosity of fruit on the palate, building in waves rather than volumes, with depth as much as breadth at the back. The fruit aromas of nectarine and Mirabelle plum are charmingly accented with hints of white flowers, spice and beeswax. The texture has great elegance and a chiselled character that one wouldn't necessarily expect in 2023, with lovely freshness and length. The Chardonnay from the domaine's 3ha monopole is assembled with the grapes from a few Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc vines before pressing and fermentation in tank and ageing in cask. Chiseled acidity makes this feel a touch stern on the palate, but it is elegant overall. Give this a few years to open up. (2024)"
