95 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): "Another wine that got better and better over the evening was the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul. I've drunk through my fair share of bottles of this over the past few years. It has never shut down and has always shown well. A ripe, forward and sexy wine, it has lots of kirsch, garrigue, exotic spice and floral notes to go with a ripe, concentrated feel on the palate. It certainly has the vintage's Provencal character and is an exuberant, hedonistic Grenache to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years. (9/13/15)"

93 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Fresh, forward and fun to drink, this easy to like open wine lacks the weight and density of recent vintages like 2007 and 2010. But there is a good quality to the fresh, spicy, black raspberry and peppery character of the soft textured wine. (Dec 2013)"

93 points (16.5/20) La Revue du Vin de France (Jan 2013).

91-93 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): " Dark ruby. Musky aromas of blackberry and spice cake, with complicating fennel, smoke and truffle notes. Dense, spicy and focused, with deep dark fruit flavors joined by a sexy floral element on the palate. Not a fat or fleshy style but in no way hard. Finishes long, with lingering sweetness and smokiness.(Mar/Apr 2011)"
