96-100 points Robert Parker: "Flirting with perfection, 2012 Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard and the 2012 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard both have off-the-charts richness as well as opaque black/blue colors, enormously concentrated red, blue and black fruits intermixed with camphor and creosote notes. The Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard also reveals a chalky minerality that no doubt is from the limestone soils of that region. The Pesenti can be drunk for its impressive scale, richness, texture and power in its youth, but it will not exhibit much secondary development for at least a decade. This will still be offering provocative and prodigious drinking 30 to 40 years from now. (Dec 2013)"

95 points/'Highly Recommended,' Wine Spectator: "Delivers an intriguing mix of sandalwood, frankincense, candied ginger and espresso flavors, wrapped around a deep, dark core of huckleberry, blackberry and boysenberry, with accents of black licorice, clove and dried sage. The tannins are thick and velvety, and the finish goes on forever. Drink now through 2030. 400 cases made. (8/31/15)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "One of the highlights in this range, the 2012 Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard races across the palate with an enticing array of blue and purplish fruit, spices, menthol and black pepper. The Pesenti is rich and voluptuous to the core, yet also possesses tons of underlying structure, that serves to give the wine energy and drive. Today the Pesenti is striking. Drink: 2015-2024. (Dec 2014)"
