94 points La Revue du Vin de France: "The aromatic depth and fleshy, velvety texture of Clos Prieur are quite firm, but the length is still compressed by the oak. Persistent, this solid wine needs time. (2023)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Clos Prieur is another excellent wine chez Trapet. The bouquet is already beautifully expressive, offering up scents of red and black cherries, sweet dark berries, espresso, a superb base of soil, grilled meats, just a hint of mustard seed, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and complex, with excellent depth at the core, fine transparency and grip, ripe, well-integrated tannins and great backend mineral drive on the long finish. 2032-2085. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The ripe plummy fruit comes through on the nose and palate, with a full complement of spice and earth notes, but there is no lack of firm tannins, either. A supple, generous wine, with a lush and dense texture. This 0.4ha parcel is located in stony, well-drained soils just underneath Mazis-Chambertin. The fruit is partially destemmed and slowly fermented with a gentle extraction. Drinking Window: 2025-2050. (May 2022)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "The last one! Next year all the 1ers crus will be bottled separately. This year Capita covers En Ergot, and Corbeaux with Combottes already taken out to make apart. 100% whole bunch. Rich dark purple. This is one of the sultry noses that suggests over ripeness. At the moment with a heavy dry finish, but may refine before the end of elevage. (Nov 2021)"

90-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "An overtly floral nose reflects notes of exceptionally fresh red and dark berries cut with plenty of earth character that continues onto the sleek, delicious and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a compact, balanced and lingering finish. This does need better depth but that should develop over the next 10+ years. Drink: 2032+. (Jan 2022)"
