96 points (18/20) La Revue du Vin de France: "As for the Chambertin, its blend of fullness and power, density and balance puts it on a plane apart. The success of the 2006 is total. (2009)"

94-95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Not surprisingly, the Chambertin in 2006 has the most stuffing in the cellars at Domaine Trapet, and the wine has turned out to be a classic example of this great vineyard. The bouquet is deep and compelling, as it soars from the glass in a blazer of sweet cherries, red plum, cocoa, a bit of grilled meat, woodsmoke, a superb base of soil and cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with a spiciness that is a lovely combination of oak and terroir, and outstanding length and grip on the ripely tannic and impeccably balanced finish. A superb wine in the making. 2018-2060. (May/Jun 2009)"

93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good medium red. Sweet aromas of cherry, strawberry, smoke and earth. Plusher and wilder than the Latricieres, but with an excellent tannic underpinning for a slow evolution in bottle. Trapet notes that the crop level in 2006 was lower than that of 2005 (but bigger than 2007). Boasts wonderful volume without any heaviness. Very Chambertin. (Mar/Apr 2009)"

93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 2 ha parcel that runs from the bottom to the very top of the slope). Ironically given that Chambertin is every bit a 'cool' terroir as is Latricières, this is slightly riper with ultra fresh and airy red pinot fruit liberally laced with earth and underbrush notes that continue onto the rich, full and equally serious medium full-bodied flavors that are textured, intense and perhaps even more mineral-driven, all culminating in a hugely long finish that has ample amounts of underlying tension. This doesn't quite have the size and weight of the monumental '05 but this is in the same league complexity-wise and will be capable of aging for 30 years with no trouble. Drink: 2018+. (Jan 2009)"
