91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos-Prieur 1er Cru comes from a parcel on deep soils with limestone debris, bought in 1893 by the Trapet family (known as tête de chat due to its shape). It has quite an exuberant bouquet with Morello cherry, strawberry and raspberry scents. It's a little more airy than the Ergot cuvée. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and focused, with pliant tannins, gentle grip and a touch of cracked black pepper toward the finish. This is very fine, but it deserves three or four years in bottle. Drink: 2028-2044. (Jan 2025)"
91-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Full crimson, a little bit of the saline red fruit note. Good tension here, some pomegranate, then the saline note, medium plus length. (Nov 2024)"
90-93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A very floral-suffused nose is comprised by elegant and airy red berry, spice and softer earth character. There is both lovely volume and texture to the middle weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the overtly austere, dusty and very firm finale. This is definitely not going to make for especially interesting early drinking so I would strongly advise buying this only with the intent to cellar it for at least the mid-term. Drink: 2035+. (Jan 2025)"
90-92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur offers up aromas of orange zest, smoke, cassis and creamy oak, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy and succulent palate, concluding with a saline finish. (Jan 2025)"
