95+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Of Jean-Louis’ three grand crus in 2017, the Chapelle-Chambertin was the most reserved in personality at the time of my visit. With a bit of coaxing, the wine offers up scents of red and black cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, mustard seed, raw cocoa, a great base of soil, hints of Cuban tobacco, cedar and a topnote of nutskin. On the palate the wine is pure, full and rock solid at the core, with a tightly-knit, ripely-tannic and very precise and promising finish. The length here is outstanding and the wine is both sappy and very soil-driven. There is little doubt it will be flat out great when it is ready to drink. 2028-2080. (Nov/Dec 2018)"
