94+ points Luis Gutiérrez (Wine Advocate): "I found a very complete 2015 Finca Martelo that followed the style and the quality path of the previous vintages. The release of this wine was an important milestone for Torre de Oña, where they look for the typicity of Rioja Alavesa through a blend of old-vine Tempranillo with 6% other varieties (Mazuelo, Garnacha and even white Viura). 2015 was a healthy harvest, and the wine shows a nice combination of power and elegance. It's clean and modern but with a traditional twist, some developed aromas and very fine chalky tannins from the limestone-rich soils. Drink: 2020-2032. (10/30/20)"

94 points Tim Atkin, MW: "(14.5%). This is the third vintage of Finca Martelo, made with grapes from the highest part of the farm in Páganos. Marrying Tempranillo with 5% Mazuelo, Garnacha and Viura, all of them picked at the same time, it's a fresh, floral, focused wine from a hot vintage with fine oak, chalky freshness and layered rose petal and red berry flavours. 2021-28. (2020)"

94 points Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine: "(tempranillo, graciano, garnacha, mazuelo, viura). Colour: dark-red cherry, garnet rim. Nose: ripe fruit, fruit preserve, aged wood nuances, tobacco, sweet spices. Palate: spicy, round tannins, long. (2021)"

93 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "Glistening violet. Potent, mineral- and smoke-accented dark berry, cherry cola and floral scents show excellent clarity and spicy lift. Lively and seamless in texture, offering sweet black raspberry, cherry preserve and boysenberry flavors and hints of spicecake and candied rose. Closes on an appealingly sweet note, with sneaky, slow-mounting tannins and strong, smoky persistence. Drink: 2023-2032. (Apr 2021)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2015 Rioja 'Reserva' from the single vineyard of Finca Martelo is composed from a blend of ninety-five percent Tempranillo, with the balance made up of small percentages of Garnacha, Mazuelo and Viura. The vines are more than sixty years of age. The wine is barrel-fermented and raised in a combination of eighty percent American oak and twenty percent French barrels, with the latter new wood. The 2015 Finca Martelo offers up an excellent bouquet of red and black raspberries, toasted coconut, Rioja spice tones, a fine base of soil, a touch of cedar and a topnote of cigar smoke. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and already starting to get velvety on the attack, with a fine core, lovely soil undertow, ripe, buried tannins and a long, complex and well balanced finish. This is ripe, in the style of the 2015 vintage, coming in at 14.5 percent alcohol, but is still quite cool on the backend. This is good juice. 2025-2055. (May/Jun 2022)"

92 points Wine Spectator: "[$39 list] Supple, polished and harmonious, this red shows cherry, tea, vanilla, leafy and spicy notes, with modest and balanced tannins and acidity. A bit reserved, but has focus and length. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Viura. Drink now through 2027. 550 cases imported. (12/31/20)"

92 points James Suckling: "A rich, fruity red with lots of ripe fruit that verges on being jammy. A little old-school, but fruity and delicious. Full body. Firm tannins give it form. Drink after 2021. (10/13/20)"
