97 points Wine & Spirits (Apr 2004).

94 points Falstaff Guide: "Deep ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate touch of ochre, broad rim brightening. Dark berry confit with a delicate balsamic underlay, a hint of dried fruit, candied oranges, fine animal touch, hint of spices. Juicy, elegant, chocolaty, some soy, fine spice, chocolaty note, very balanced, offers great drinking pleasure, now in absolute top form, ripe heart cherries, sweet and long-lasting. (7/9/15)"

94 points/'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "Deep and delicious, with an earth-driven nose that conveys quality. Chunky plum pervades the chewy, dark palate, which offers a gorgeous mouthfeel and admirable depth. Only on the finish do you get a slight hint of oak. Overall it's entirely solid and very likable, but as good as it is, it's not quite on the level of the '98 or '99, which were amazing. Alcohol 14.7%. (Nov 2003)"

94 points James Suckling: "A delicious and rich wine with stewed-fruit character and hints of flowers. Full body, silky tannins and a juicy finish. A little gritty. Shows a little water stress. But juicy and satisfying. Drink now. (11/21/16)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2000 Ornellaia (magnum) is a pretty, well-balanced offering with good concentration and complexity. The 2000 lacks some of the visceral thrill of top vintages, but it is an excellent choice for near-term drinking. In 2000 Ornellaia is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine spent 18 months in French oak (70% new) and was lightly fined prior to being bottled. (Dec 2009)"

93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(14.6% alcohol). Full red-ruby. Very ripe nose offers roasted meat, smoke, tobacco, underbrush and mint. Superripe, silky and lush, with a slightly roasted fruit character. Not a hugely complex or deep vintage for Ornellaia, and likely to evolve relatively quickly, but the wine's uncommonly lush, velvety texture is more than worth the price of admission. Strong cherry fruit emerged with aeration. Almost California-like in its opulence and early appeal. Finishes with big but ripe tannins that are finer than those of the '97. 93 points. (Sep/Oct 2004)"
