93 points Wine Spectator: "[$70 list] Focused and powerful, without extra weight, this offers a lithe and agile mouthful of blackberry, black cherry and licorice flavors, along with hints of black olive and smoky grilled pepper. A swarm of crunchy tannins wraps up the finish. This has presence and grace to match the power. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. 968 cases made. (10/15/15)"
92+ points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "(15.5% alcohol; 3.89 pH; a blend of 11 small lots): Full medium ruby. Superb lavender and violet lift to the slightly jammy aromas of blueberry, licorice, bitter chocolate and Szechuan peppercorn, with an exotic orange zest high note providing another high note. At once plush and wonderfully aromatic in the mouth (the clones came from Tablas Creek), showing a very fine-grained texture and noteworthy energy. The black raspberry, blueberry and clove flavors are complicated by a hint of saddle leather. Finishes with substantial but thoroughly ripe tannins and terrific subtle persistence and lift. This project is a joint venture between Chateau Ste. Michelle (featuring head winemaker Bob Bertheau) and the Rhône Valley winemaker Michel Gassier and consulting enologist Philippe Cambie. Drink: 2018-2025. (Nov 2015)"
