93 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Dhron Hofberger Riesling Spätlese (Gold Capsule) is discreet in its bright fruit flavors yet substantial and elegant on the nose. Lush and refined, with crystalline acidity and super ripe and overripe fruit aromas, this is a wine to be served with lobster one day due to its combination of sweetness, intensity and mineral piquancy. Even without lobster, this is a classic Mosel Spätlese with sensual fruit and mouth-tickling savoriness. It has good length and aging potential. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 04 23 in May 2023. Drink: 2030-2050. (5/31/23)"
93 points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 04 23. The 2022er Dhron Hofberger Riesling Spätlese was made from grapes partially affected by botrytis (40%) harvested on 50-year-old vines in the classical part of the vineyard. at 97° Oechsle and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (88 g/l). It offers a most beautifully complex and hugely appealing nose of orange zest, tangerine, almond and coconut cream, apricot, anise, minty herbs, candied pineapple, and honeyed yellow peach. The wine shows ample depth and creamy presence on the palate, which clearly plays in Auslese ripeness and sweetness. It however proves subtly light and juicy in the nicely long and round finish. This rich Spätlese is very attractive and superbly juicy. 2030-2047. (Dec 2023)"
