92 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): " From magnum. After removing the cork without difficulty this was decanted for an hour or two, allowing it to display its undeniably mature and slightly dusty garnet hue. The aromatics are beautifully pure for its age, scented with balsa wood, orange peel, cranberry and mature tobacco. This precedes a palate which feels cool and delicately silky, the filigree texture laced with veins of tobacco and crushed chalk, resting over a fine lacework of tannins which support the midpalate with a fortitude reminiscent of crumbling chalk. Dry, structured and lightly peppered in the finish, lingering well, this is a fine example of the 1989 vintage. Drink or hold (from magnum, anyway) but there really is little point in waiting now. The alcohol on the label is 12%. (Apr 2024)"

90 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 1989 Siran offers attractive scents of raspberry coulis and wild strawberry mix intermingling with saddle leather and gamey scents that I have noticed before. The palate is well balanced with an irony tincture, touches of dried blood infusing the predominantly black fruit, that gamey note becoming slightly fungal (morels?) as it opens in the glass. There is admirable depth and grip to the 1989 and as I have averred in the past, it has held up better than the 1982 Siran. As it approaches the end of its drinking plateau, I recommend drinking this in the near future. Tasted from a bottle at home. Drink: 2020-2030. (Jun 2020)"
