96 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "This has striking purity on the nose with a very, very fresh, focused and fragrant nose with superb clarity of fine citrus fruit and crushed stones. The very dry palate (just north of 2 g per liter) has a succulent, smooth texture, plenty of grapefruit and a creamy finish. Drink or hold. (12/16/19)"

94 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2018 Schloss Johannisberger Riesling Silberlack GG is the driest wine ever made at Schloss Johannisberg, and Stefan Doktor is very happy with the wine, which fermented down to 2.2 grams of residual sugar. The grapes come from the south/southwest-facing Langenberg where the grapes were halved straight after the flowering and strictly selected during the harvest in late September and October. Picked at a moderate 92° Oechsle, fermented spontaneously in large oak for eight to ten weeks and assembled in May and bottled in June, the 2018 opens with a deep, ripe and intense, very clear, pure, elegant and complex bouquet with ripe fruit aromas and fine, coolish minerality. Lush and generous on the palate, this is a round and highly elegant, very persistent and mineral Schloss Johannisberger with reduced power and a tensioned finish. Still young and phenolic but very promising. Tasted at the château in August 2019. Drink: 2023-2040. (Jan 2020)"
