97 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "This spectacular wine breaks the mold for this category, unifying lightness, succulence and great concentration. Yes, orange in the wide spectrum of aromas and flavors, along with apricot and papaya. Fantastic purity at the super-long and brilliant finish. From the eastern side of the hill of Schloss Johannisberg. Fermented in stainless steel, then matured in a 2,400-liter oak cask. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. (7/21/25)"

97 points Colin Hay (The Drinks Business): "(Rheingau; 100% Riesing; 1200 bottles; barrel-pressed with vinification in steel and just 6 months of oak aging). The top Kabinett cuvée of this increasingly iconic estate. A wine of utter brilliance and another ‘Riesling week’ star that is so complex as to be very difficult to describe. Closed aromatically but enticing. On the palate, it’s the residual sucrosity that one notices first, but only for an instant. For then we sense the sheer juiciness and sapidity of the wine and, with that, is delivered the wall of intensely grapefruit-scented and grapefruit-charged acidity and freshness. The opposite of a sugar-rush – a citrus-rush perhaps? This is wondrously flinty too. Brilliant and with very considerable aging potential."

95 points Georgina Hindle (Decanter): "Exotic pineapple, mango, peach, lemon and floral grassy scents - a wild flower meadow. Excellent texture and zing with a plentiful sucrosity but balanced by vibrancy and cooling minerality. The acidity just lifts the palate making this so easy and enjoyable to drink. Forget about just the sweetness here, this is full of complexity, nuance and deliciousness. A wine you’ll want to reach to again and again. A bargain for the price. From the rainy and challenging 2024 vintage that required constant vigilance and extreme sorting during harvest. 34.5g/L residual sugar. 7.7g/L acidity. Ageing on fine less in wooden barrels made from the estate’s own oak. Alcohol 10.0%. Drinking Window: 2025-2060. (8/26/25)"

93-95 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Vinous): "The 2024 Riesling Schloss Johannisberg Orangelack Kabinett is the second Kabinett for the estate, marketed only at La Place de Bordeaux. It was picked in the eastern, slightly warmer part of the site, whole-bunch pressed in a basket press, then aged in Doppelstück with a cooling element. Red apple, spicy white grapefruit and crushed clover are wrapped in creaminess on the nose, expressing gorgeous purity. This has immense tension and vivid zestiness, clocking in at around 33 g/L of residual sugar and around 8 g/L of acidity. The 2024 has slightly more substance than its sibling, the Rotlack Kabinett, but just as much verve. (Medium) Drink: 2025-2050. (Jun 2025)"

93-95 points Ulrich Sautter (Falstaff): "Pink grapefruit, candied orange peel, still closed overall, but hinting at a strong terpene content. Gripping in the mouth, dense, well defined minerality, rather ripe acidity, delicate sweetness, very young. Alcohol 10%. (7/1/25)"
