93-95 points Anne Krebiehl MW (Vinous): "The 2022 Riesling Monzinger Halenberg Grosses Gewächs benefited from cooler nights in 2022. The nose is covered by a yeasty veil of smoke, which alluring notions of citrus beckon. The palate comes in with more saltiness and an immediate mouth-watering urgency. Nothing here sticks out, and serene lemon zestiness sets the tone, rising from brooding depth. This is almost austere, absolutely uncompromising, with gorgeous zesty length. (Bone-dry) (Drink between 2027-2050) (Sept 2023)"
93+ points Mosel Fine Wines: "The 2022er Halenberg Riesling GG, as it is referred to on the front label, has an initially hugely smoky nose of bacon, wild herbs, and potpourri, and needs a couple of minutes in the glass to start to reveal finer notes of dried white flowers, cheese rind, mustard seed, and lime. The wine proves focused and taut on the dynamic palate. The finish proves slightly broader and marked by quite some tartness in need of integration. The finish is very long and smoky. This needs quite some cellaring to integrate all its elements, and could well surprise us at maturity. 2029-2042. (Sep 2023)"
93 points Ulrich Sautter (Falstaff): "A touch of reductive notes, also balsamic aromas. On the palate, clear phenolics and a fullness, good substance, nice acidity, but marked by the warm year. Powerful! Alcohol 12.5%. Residual sugar: 4.1 g/l. (11/11/23)"
