98 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "What a haunting nose of smoke and wild herbs this breathtaking dry Nahe riesling has. Terrific underplayed power and fantastic focus on the super-sleek, concentrated, medium-bodied palate. Incredibly cool and precise in the super-long and super-stony finish, which has a compelling saltiness. From an extremely steep site with volcanic porphyry soil. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink from release. (9/6/24)"

96-98 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Vinous): "The 2023 Riesling Bockenauer Stromberg Grosses Gewächs is from porphyry with some vines between 80 and 100 years of age. Chervil, lemon blossom and pale lemon zest come together on the fragrant nose. Equal fragrance defines the palate in its litheness, directness and absolute finesse. Gorgeous understatement allows us to see the naked purity of this stony wine. Beautiful, taut and crystalline, this is exquisitely and deliciously hair-raising. (Bone-dry) Drink: 2034-2070. (Sep 2024)"

95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2023 Stromberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs from Tim Fröhlich is an utterly brilliant young wine. These are some Tim’s oldest vines, ranging typically from eighty to ninety years of age, but with a percentage more than a century old! The wine comes in at 12.5 percent octane in this vintage and delivers a stunning and youthful bouquet of grapefruit, tart orange, a touch of wild yeasts, menthol, volcanic minerality, dried flowers and a topnote of orange peel. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with an excellent girdle of acidity, a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding mineral drive and grip, impeccable balance and a very, very long, nascently complex and extremely promising finish that closes with a lovely sensation of salinity. All this great Grand Cru needs is time in the cellar to blossom properly. 2035-2080. (Nov/Dec 2025)"

94+ points Fine Wine Review: "Lees aromas (will burn off). Dense, intense, good concentration, purity, depth, energetic, spicy white fruits. (9/16/24)"

93+ points Stephen Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Stromberg GG is cool, precise and pure on the nose, which still has a slight yeasty touch but is also endowed with ripe fruit and salty minerals. It's less tart and fresh than the Felseneck but darker and even more reticent. Silky, juicy and full-bodied on the palate, this Riesling has ripe fruit, plenty of substance and muscle but is still rather sinewy, salty and reductive. It has the potential to become something amazing. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024. Drink: 2028-2044. (10/31/24)"

93 points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 20 24. The Stromberg 2023 Riesling GG, as it is referred to on the consumer label, has a quite herbal and reductive nose of almond, hot spices, wild herbs, flint stone, green apple, dill, rosemary, hay, and cassis leaf. The wine proves quite compact and herbal on the palate, where some tartness and tannins directly come through. There is some broadness, yet the finish is straight and taut, with plenty of spices and zesty elements. This impressive and bold expression of dry Riesling needs a few years to integrate all its elements and fully shine. 2028-2038. (Sep 2024)"
