95 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "This brilliant Nahe dry riesling is like the essence of slate. All the shades of citrus plus flint and ripe goosberries. Amazing vibrancy and dynamism, the underlying ripeness easily balancing the strident acidity that drives the extremely long and focused finish. From 20- to 30-year-old vines in the Felseneck GG site. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. (7/30/24)"

94 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Vinous): "The 2023 Riesling Schiefergestein is from the younger vines in the Bockenauer Felseneck (up to 35 years old). Smoke on the nose blends with yarrow and lemon peel. The palate has a seamless fluidity, brimming with bright acid and still smoky with yeast, streamlined and tingling with freshness. It presents wonderful dimension on a slender, most elegant footprint. Sleek, svelte and simply yummy. (Bone-dry) Drink: 2028-2050. (Sep 2024)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2023 Bockenauer Riesling “Schiefergestein” Trocken is simply outstanding and probably at the level of many estates’ Grosses Gewächs bottlings (which I know I have said in previous vintages, but it really is true). The wine tips the scales at 12.5 percent alcohol in this lovely vintage and delivers a deep, utterly refined and precise bouquet of tart orange, sweet grapefruit, wild yeasts, a hint of petrol, a beautiful foundation of slate minerality, lemon peel and a vibrant touch of lemongrass in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, laser-focused and full-bodied, with a stunning core of fruit, great mineral drive and grip, a superb girdle of acidity, perfect balance and a long, complex and youthful finish. This is a superb wine in the making, but it is going to deserve a bit of extended cellaring just to allow it to blossom properly. It is an outstanding value. 2030-2065. (Nov/Dec 2025)"

17/20 points Jancis Robinson, MW: "Cask sample. A bit broader and more approachable than the Vulkangestein with real texture and a bone-dry but not punishing finish. Drinking Window: 2024-2032. (4/29/24)"
