98 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "I love the way the cool, citrusy and ripe stone fruit aromas are intertwined with the smokiness in this sensationally precise and filigreed dry riesling. Enormous flinty energy that extends into every corner of your palate, together with lime and bergamot freshness. Enormously long, pure and salty on the medium-bodied, almost perfectly balanced palate. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink from release. (9/6/24)"
96-98 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Vinous): "The 2023 Riesling Bockenauer Felseneck Grosses Gewächs 2022, from blue Devonian slate, has immediate spice and slate savor, like citrus squeezed on dry stone—fragrant, lifted, soaring. The palate is as fine as a flexible blade, sharp and precise. Nothing here is about power or muscle. Everything is about grace, direction and finesse. If you want definition without weight, this is your wine. The citric dimensions reverberate and zestiness rules. What poise, what elegance. Wow. (Bone-dry) Drink: 2034-2070. (Sep 2024)"
97 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Tim Fröhlich’s 2023 Felseneck Riesling Grosses Gewächs is such a stunning young wine that it is certainly criminal to be opening bottles now for piddly tasting notes! Like its stablemate from the Stromberg vineyard, the wine weighs in at 12.5 percent alcohol and shares the same sense of effortless, perfect balance. The aromatic constellation wafts from the glass in an utterly refined blend of tart pear, grapefruit, wild yeasts, a gorgeous foundation of slate minerality, lemongrass and a gentle topnote of elder flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and elegant in profile, with a rock solid core of fruit, great mineral drive, a superb spine of acidity and laser-like focus on the long, nascently complex and electric finish. Tim makes this from a parcel of sixty to sixty-five year-old Riesling vines, planted on the blue slate and quartzite of the vineyard’s filet sections. This wine is even more seamless on the palate than the stunning 2021 Felseneck GG reviewed below, as its zesty acids are better buried in the base of the wine today. This is one of the finest young GGs I have tasted in quite some time! 2037-2080+. (Nov/Dec 2025)"
96 points Caro Maurer, MW (Decanter): "The story this wine tells is long and intense. It begins with citrus fruits and preserved lemon peel, moves through wet stone and a reductive smoky note, and ends harmoniously with white flowers and white tea. Everything is still so tightly interwoven that it's impossible to separate the individual elements. A taut acidity holds everything tightly together. You can feel the tension between the cool blue slate soil of Felseneck and the sunlit southern exposure, which warms up early in the day. This balance makes this Riesling one of the finest of its vintage. Drinking Window: 2024-2055. (8/25/24)"
95 points Stephen Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "Tim Fröhlich's iconic Bockenau Riesling 2023 Felseneck GG shows a clear, bright, delicately aromatic nose of white stone fruits, crushed rocks and salt. Dense, powerful and zesty on the palate yet also aromatic, this is an enormously salty, salivating and stimulating wine with a damn long finish. Great. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024. Drink: 2025-2045. (10/31/24)"
95 points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 21 24. The Felseneck 2023 Riesling GG, as it is referred to on the consumer label, displays a stunningly elegant and reductive nose of fine spices, wild herbs, smoke, flint stone, white flowers, vineyard peach, white almond, cassis, and bacon. The wine is layered and refreshing on the intense and energetic palate. The finish proves straight, bone-dry, and outstandingly long. This superb dry Riesling combines elegance, finesse, raciness, and intensity: What a great success! 2029-2043. (Sep 2024)"
93+ points Fine Wine Review: "Floral, perfumed, mineral nose. Mouth is medium-weight, some power, spicy white fruits, incipient peach and apricot. (9/16/24)"
