98 points Anna Lee Ijima (Decanter): "Iodine and violets lend a lifted, airy perfume to this intensely concentrated yet superbly balanced, almost laser-etched wine. It's powerful and unctuous certainly, but its black cherry and berry flavours are pristine, coating the palate in waves of satin and dustings of cocoa powder, chalk and ore. A complex yet hedonistic wine sourced from vines planted more than 30 years ago (into rock using a jackhammer) and aged for 33 months, predominantly in French barriques. Drinking Window: 2024-2040. (2/15/24)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "Brooding and somewhat muscular, this blend offers dark blackberry, crushed stone, savory meat and pepper flavors that gather tension and richness on the finish. Syrah, Grenache, Mataro and Graciano. Best from 2025 through 2035. 383 cases made. (6/26/24)"

Producer notes: "What a special wine Bone Rock is. Not only is it where Saxum started with the 2000 Bone Rock, but it’s also the block our house sits next to, so I basically live in this block. It is so much more than a vineyard. But I’m here today to tell you about the 2020 Bone Rock…. It is rock star material. When we tasted through this line up, our son Colin thought this wine was showing the best out of all 5. High praises considering the company it was in! A classic showing from vines we planted with jackhammers over 30 years ago. Aged for 33 months in mainly barriques with a few hogsheads (300L) thrown in, this wine is still structured, and holds the promise of wonderful things to come with a couple years of aging. But really, I find it delicious right now."
